Hardware Design Engineer - From senior to principal.

Microbus occasionally require, experienced, enthusiastic electronics engineer to manage projects and design industrial single board computers. This permanent full time position gives direct involvement in the whole design process from specification through schematic design, board layout, simulation, and debug, to initial production.

• schematic design and layout (both using Zuken Visula software), and
• debug and support of both existing projects and new designs

Primary skills required:

digital design (especially an interest in higher-speed design and microprocessors). Minimum 4 years experience

Qualifications:

Either a 2-2 degree or above in electronics engineering or a science/engineering degree and significant relevant experience are required.

Other useful skills include:

• analogue design,
• programming, to write and maintain test software in C and x86 assembler.

Experience of electronic CAD and PCs would be valuable, but knowledge of the particular tools we employ is not required. We are looking for a logical thinker and problem solver, who can work as part of a team and alone; Someone who can organise and prioritise multiple tasks and adopt the flexible approach needed in a smaller company.

Design, manufacture, sales and support are all concentrated under one roof, so engineers are close to the whole operation. Our current products largely use x86 compatible processors, including 386, 486, and Pentium 2/3, Tualatin processors at bus speeds from 8MHz to 100MHz. They range from very low power designs to multi-processor architectures. Peripherals include SCSI, Ethernet, Sound, Video Capture, VGA controllers and Flat panel controllers.
